Sustainable Viticulture Practices on the Face of Climate Change

Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Change in past climate is evidenced to alter regional temperature and precipitation, resulting in non-neglectable influences on agricultural activities and crop production. In viticulture, climate change can cause multiple co-occurring changes in cultural conditions, growing seasons, environmental conditions, winter frost, vine phenology, grape berry composition, biotic disturbance, and abiotic disturbance. In order to alleviate the negative effects of climate change, the use of adapted genotypes is a better tool as it has the advantage of being environmentally friendly and cost effective.Besides, many other cultural practices should be employed simultaneously to obtain better results.
