Year: 2019
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: In this paper, we analyze Twitter and Facebook posts of nine organizations operating in different domains of public service in Northeast United States. The study objective is to compare and contrast their message content, sentiment and communication on social media. We discover that sentiment and frequency of messages on social media is indeed affected by nature of organization’s operations. We also discover that organizations either use Twitter for broadcasting or one-to-one communication with citizens. Findings from this study can be used by public organizations to improve their social media communication strategy.
