Abstract: Rail breakage starting from defects of rail base under a railroad crossings often occurrs. Such a defects cannot be detected using ultrasonic testing. Inspection for such a defects needs a visual inspection accompanies a removal work of railroad crossing, so it's a burden. Therefore, in this study, we studied nondestructive inspection method for defects on an edge of rail base under a railroad crossing using backscatter X-ray.
