Abstract: A typical route to study the quantum-to-classical transition consists of probing systems with increased particle sizes. Here, a formalism is developed to investigate near-field interferometry beyond the Rayleigh limit, providing the expressions needed to describe coherent and incoherent effects in an optical grating.
