Abstract: ABSTRACT The aim was evaluate the analgesic effect of oxytocin in the thermal-induced nociceptive pain in rats, dont ovariectomizadas and dont ovariectomizadas. We used 40 rats divided into 4 groups of 6 specimens and treated intraperitoneally as: (1) Control: 0.1 ml/100g distilled water, (2) Oxytocin 10 IU / kg, (3) Oxytocin 30 IU / kg and (4) Tramadol 20 mg / kg. The animals were evaluated nociceptive response before and after treatment by determining the latency period for onset of response to pain (pain threshold) in the Hot-Plate (Hot Plate). According to the present results oxytocin was greater analgesic effect at a dose of 30 IU / kg increased the pain threshold achieved more than their baseline measurement, so it is not significant change in pain threshold at a dose of 10 IU / kg. On the other hand, rats treated with tramadol had a 100% elevation of pain threshold in relation to their basal medition. In conclusion, oxytocin 30 IU / kg show an analgesic effect on thermal induced pain in rats dont ovariectomizadas p<α=0.01 y ovariectomizadas p<α=0.036.
