Abstract: An elhnologkal and mycological study of the Chignahuapan región (Stateof Puebla) is presentecl. In this región diere is a church where a fungus isthe principal pan in the cult. This church was built specially for this cult.The l'ungus is Ganoderma lobnlum (Schw.) Atk., lignicole species remoteIrom the hallucinogenic fungí. However, the authors of this paper have thesuspicion oí the use of the hallucinogenic fungi in the NE of the región oíChignahuapan, because in that región there are ecological conditions for thegrowth of hallucinogenic fungi. The "honguito" that is the ñame of the fungusof the church, was found in a forest near Chignahuapan in the last Century.The fungus carries on its face an arresting sketch where a Christ with a sunand nioon is shown, and the number "80" is more or less evident.
