Foundation for a National Policy on Local Growth and Location of Federal Expenditures

Year: 1972
Type: article
Abstract: The interest in forming policy on regional growth has increased in the past several years. This interest has been expressed both in terms of seeking a national policy on population distribution and national policy on the location of economic activity. However, there are concerns regarding the current and projected future distributions of population and economic activity. The focus of this paper is broader than the problems of depressed economies. By broadening to include metropolitan and urban areas of all sizes, this study attempts to marshal evidence for a general preference in the location of economic growth.
