Abstract: This work shows that a quantum state can be transferred between stationary qubits without time dependent control, by tailoring dissipation in an open quantum system. The minimum system dimension for transferring one qubit of information proves to be 3 x 2 (between one physical qutrit and one physical qubit), plus one auxiliary reservoir.
