Abstract: The skin protects the internal organs, works as a complete physiological organ performing a number of functions.The skin itself is complex organ and its health impact the appearance and medical status of a human being.A number of herbal products has been used and evaluated for rejuvenation and treatment of skin diseases in ancient time.This review discusses the skin ailments, skin morphology, and details of pharmaceutical formulations (Cosmeceuticals) used for the skin treatment and care.A detailed analysis of different Indian medicinal plants and their parts that are used for skin care and as Cosmeceuticals have been included.
