Abstract: The phenomenon of willingness to communicate (WTC) has been thoroughly discussed since 1990’s and is defined as a psychosocial category which relates to a person’s willingness to initiate oral communication when the opportunity for it arises. The following thesis will explore a very specific context English language majors’ level of WTC in a university classroom setting. More precisely, its aim was to explain the levels of WTC regarding different aspects of classroom communication such as classmates, topics, the teacher and motivation. Its results will show that the human factor (i.e. teacher and classmates) is still relevant to the students at the university level when it comes to communicating in class.
