Premarital Agreements and Gender Justice

Year: 1993
Type: article
Abstract: Premarital agreements are playing an increasingly important role in the American marriage ritual. Such contracts are no longer the exclusive domain of the rich or the famous; they are frequently made by prospective spouses of the middle- and upper-middle classes. In light of the increasing significance of premarital agreements, the legal rules that govern their enforceability are of great concern not only to lawmakers and legal scholars, but to the individuals whose economic futures may depend on these agreements.
