Abstract: This article will examine what an increase in Chinese investment means for the African continent. Part II examines what is meant by “sustainable development” and considers how it can be achieved. Part III details China’s investments in Africa: its history, recent growth, and areas of focus. Finally, part IV returns to the question of how Chinese investment may influence African development.
