Artistas contra el museo. Breve recorrido por la crítica institucional estadounidense entre las décadas de los sesenta y noventa
Year: 2019
Type: article
Abstract: This essay proposes a review of some of the artistic expressions that revolted against the normative discourse of the museum from the sixties to the nineties. It considers the exclusions of certain artistic collectives in the museum, its organs of government and structure, the conceptual limits of their curatorial programs, and their connections with political power. Different sections consider some alternative artistic proposals created by artists (both inside and outside the museum), against the commercialization of art, which, together with the protests and demands of some artists and critics have contributed to make of the museum a more democratic place today.
