A commentary on the place of physical activity in Australian Schools
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: Promoting physical activity in Australian schools is something that many health and physical education (HPE) teachers believe we do well. Historically, there has been much support for physical activity in schools, particularly sport-focused, as it is regarded as an important part of Australian culture. Other forms of physical activity such as outdoor education, fitness training and recreational or leisure pursuits have also gained prominence in school HPE curriculum and sport offerings. But how are Australian students encouraged and enabled to be physically active during school hours?
