Abstract: The authors propose the realization of a torsional actuator based on a soft magnetoelastic material. The paper investigates the response of different spatial arrangements of magnetizable particles enclosed by a soft elastic sphere and identifies those structures showing a maximized twist deformation under saturating external magnetic fields.
