Abstract: This paper shows that the interaction between magnetic Janus colloids breaks time-reversal symmetry and leads to propulsion of the whole cluster. Depending on the cluster configuration, motion can range from rotation to helical motion and steerable, directed translation with speeds comparable to those commonly reported for objects propelled via anisotropic drag.
