188: Stimulation of anti-tumor immunity using dendritic cell/tumor fusions and anti CD3/CD28

Year: 2007
Type: article
Abstract: We have demonstrated that fusions of patient derived renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and autologous dendritic cells (DCs) stimulate anti-tumor immune responses and disease response in a subset of patients. However, vaccine efficacy is limited by effector cell dysfunction and increased presence of regulatory T cells characteristic of cancer patients. Ligation of CD3/CD28 delivers an antigen-independent stimulus to resting T cell populations. We postulated that stimulation with DC/tumor fusions followed by anti-CD3/CD28 would result in the significant expansion of activated T cells targeting tumor antigens.
