Abstract: In this introduction, the guest editors discuss briefly the context of organising this special issue, the approach of each paper takes, and how they are collectively related to the existing literature of Taiwanese-language films (taiyupian). The guest editors also explain the screening tour of selected taiyupian in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe between 2017 and 2019, which became possible because of support and cooperation of many institutions in Taiwan, the UK and Europe.
