Defnition of Digital Earth and main conundrum of cartography

Abstract: The issue of creating a typology of the entire variety of geospatial information systems is considered, and appropriate tools are proposed. The necessity of defning Digital Earth as a special class is justifed. This new class has special properties that can be used in creating an intensional defnition of the Digital Earth.
