Abstract: Military downsizing has been a key issue in many countries throughout the world since the end of the Cold War.The US military has only recently completed its own five-year, 20-percent reduction in strength.Calls for military downsizing in the developing world are increasing, not only in the countries themselves, but from the US government, other donor governments, and the World Bank.
