The impact of direct-to-consumer wearables in pediatric electrophysiology telehealth clinics: A real-world case series
Year: 2020
Type: article
Abstract: Key Findings•Direct-to-consumer wearable devices can have a positive impact in pediatric electrophysiology telehealth clinics by providing real-time data on heart rate and rhythm in this population. These data can be used to guide medical decision-making on titration of drugs or decision to proceed to ablation therapy.•Developing simple workflows to securely transmit and integrate these electrocardiographic tracings into the electronic medical record (in these cases, use of the MyChart application and the EPIC electronic medical record) have been described.•There are important economic, reimbursement, workflow, and data integrity considerations that should be more thoroughly explored in future studies. •Direct-to-consumer wearable devices can have a positive impact in pediatric electrophysiology telehealth clinics by providing real-time data on heart rate and rhythm in this population.
