Abstract: We are pleased to present this special supplement of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine on vaccination equity in low- and middle-income countries. According to the WHO, >1 billion children globally have been vaccinated during the past decade, and 125 member states of the UN have achieved ≥90% coverage with 3 doses of the diphtheria–tetanus–pertussis (DTP3) vaccine, a widely acknowledged measure of immunization program performance.1 Despite those remarkable successes, >20 million children aged <1 year have not received the basic recommended vaccines, and the proportion of children immunized with the DTP3 vaccine worldwide has remained static in recent years, highlighting persistent vaccination inequalities.
