Abstract: Climate change has emerged as one of the main challenges for humanity. The effects will be severe in some areas of Latin America (currently responsible for around 10% of global emissions), which adds to other social and economic challenges in their countries, with very different realities. The media has an important social role in addressing this great challenge. This research presents a bibliographic cartography of Latin American studies in communication and climate change area in order to contribute to the qualification of this discussion in the region, as well as to study the main landmarks of the coverage in comparative perspective with the international scope. The bibliographic research identifies many similarities among nine Latin American countries, the lack of exchanges on the reality of the region and a series of gaps to be filled. There are also considerable similarities between Latin American and international coverage.
