Abstract: We describe a chip that is capable of performing gene transfer in individual biological cells through single cell microelectroporation. Microfluidic channels are used to handle individual cells in a flow through fashion that yields high electroporation efficiency.Controlled introduction of macromolecules and genetic engineering of an individual cell are demonstrated.
