Abstract: Professor Michael Geary, Editor-in-Chief, IJGO IJGO is happy to welcome Professor Michael Geary as the new Editor-in-Chief from January 2021. Prof Geary has been a member of the IJGO Editorial Board since 2015, and for the past 2 years he has been part of a team of Associate Editors working on the Contemporary Issues in Women's Health section of the journal. He is an excellent clinician with experience working in Ireland, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Prof Geary was a Clinical Research Fellow from 1996 to 1998 at University College London, where he ran the Fetal Growth Study, and later rose from the position of Assistant Master at Rotunda Hospital in 1999 to the post of Master/CEO of the Rotunda in 2002, a position which he held for 7 years. He was head of Department at Saint Michael's Hospital, Toronto for 3 years and has continued to be an honorary Professor at University of Toronto following his return to Dublin. His current position is as Clinical Director of the Rotunda Hospital and Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at RCSI, Dublin. Professor Geary has been a very active member of the current IJGO Editorial Board and has made major contributions to the success of the journal, handling peer review (both as a reviewer and as an Associate Editor), editing IJGO supplements, and authoring submissions for the Contemporary Issues in Women's Health section. Given Prof Geary's substantial contributions to IJGO, the review panel were very confident that he was the best person to assume leadership of the journal. Mike takes over leadership of IJGO at a time when all journals are engaged with the issue of open access publishing. One of the challenges of becoming an open access journal when a large number of our contributors are from low- and middle-income countries is that of the relatively high publishing fees that authors or their institutions need to pay. IJGO is in full agreement with the principle of making our publications easily accessible to the whole world, and we continue to discuss how best to achieve this while still remaining a journal that publishes a good amount of research from each of the FIGO global regions. Prof Geary has been involved in these discussions and is committed to maintaining IJGO as a truly international journal. I have enjoyed my 6-year term as Editor-in-Chief of IJGO and have been extremely happy working with all the Editorial Board members and the IJGO editorial office, as well as the FIGO Trustees and other FIGO staff. I am very sure that all these wonderful people will also work together with Prof Geary to ensure that IJGO continues to achieve greater heights. Professor Michael Geary comes into office as Editor-in-Chief with great plans for expanding the reach and influence of IJGO. These plans will engage more of our community of reviewers, some of whom we hope will take on more responsibilities in relation to the journal. I am very confident that under the leadership of Prof Geary, IJGO will attract more high-quality submissions and will have a greater impact on improving women's health globally. IJGO continues to be grateful to our contributors and reviewers, and I am certain that all of you will also do everything you can to make Professor Geary's tenure as Editor-in-Chief a wonderful one. Finally, as we say in Ghana, Mike Akwaaba!!
