Year: 2021
Type: editorial
Abstract: T he editorial team of ACS ES&T Engineering (ES&TE) was excited to see the inaugural issue of ES&TE published last month after spending much time and energy in preparing the launch of the journal. Now, we want to add to the excitement of this moment and introduce the inaugural editorial board and recognize their valuable contributions and dedication. The ES&TE board (Table 1) consists of Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) and Early Career Board (ECB) members.Referring to the editorial board members of a journal is the easiest way to identify the journal's interests since the specialty areas of board members succinctly defines the journal scope. With this in mind, we have recruited prominent researchers representing diverse environmental engineering research areas, from emerging and interdisciplinary topics as well as traditional topics.Leading environmental engineering researchers at various career stages have been invited from all over the world to serve on our board.Their contributions, advice, and support have been vitally important in shaping the scope, development plan, and promotional strategy for the journal. The EAB members are globally recognized leaders of various environmental technology and engineering topics. They help one to anticipate the journal's areas of impact. The ECB members represent researchers at the beginning stage of their careers. They are key players who will grow with ES&TE, lead its impact, and shape its future.Combined, the EAB and ECB provide a wide range of expertise and knowledge in environmental engineering and it associated sciences, reflecting the broadening scope of our discipline. They bring diverse perspectives that are needed to solve the most complex and emerging environmental problems that require interdisciplinary approaches. The editorial board characterizes the present and future of ES&TE and is its greatest asset. We will continue to recruit prominent researchers to the journal's boards so that we remain current with the changes that inevitably come to the environmental engineering discipline, and so that the journal can continue to play a role in influencing the field. We greatly appreciate the editorial board's commitment and service to ES&TE and look forward to their continued support and contributions.Welcome aboard!
