Abstract: Body weight regulation has been an important public health issue in recent years. According to the statistic, obesity problem has become an epidemic that causes expensive costs to the public health services. Obesity is understood as both a cause and at the same time an effect of psychological as well as behavioral problems. This paper presents a preliminary study that aims at studying and understanding the dynamics of human body weight based on the macronutrient and energy flux balance, particularly the proportion of the body fat the body lean. The body weight management for an obese patient is also addressed. Viewing the problem from the control engineering point of few, we consider the flow of energy intake as the input to the body and we design a feedback control which represents a feasible energy intake to human body that can be useful for the body weight regulation. A numerical example is presented to show how the mathematical model behaves and how the proposed control law works to achieve the target body weight.
