Abstract: My association with the CME began about a decade ago with Vol.35, No. 7 as editor of the annual research issue. In that editorial in 1994 I focused on "change" -how teachers can change and, in the words of Michael Fullan, can become change agents. The answer was (and still is) through developing: (1) a personal vision, an inner conviction of what is important, (2) the ability to be a reflective and reflexive inquirer, (3) a deep understanding of new ideas and thorough skill in them, and (4) effective collaboration.
