Abstract: The mammalian circadian system relies on retinal photoreceptors to entrain the master circadian pacemaker in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) to environmental light-dark cycles. Non-visual light responses, including acute physiological changes and circadian phase resetting, demonstrate a spectral sensitivity to visual short wavelengths (450-480 nm). In this thesis, I examine the effects of filtering visual short-wavelengths from polychromatic white light(~100µW/cm
