Abstract: This paper discusses the problem of delays in paying off debts generally as well as in Islamic banks specifically.The paper consists of seven topics.First topic is titled "The ruling in Shari'ah regarding delaying paying off debts."Second topic discusses the issue of the bank entering into a partnership with the debtor with the value of debt that he owes.Third topic discusses the issue of preserving ownership and preventing sale of property as two ways of preventing delays in paying off debts and evasion.Fourth topic is titled "The rights of banks to demand the delaying debtor to recompense the bank for the negative effects of the delay in paying off debts."Fifth topic discusses the issue of the installments being payable before the specified deadline as a measure to solve the problem of delays.Sixth topic is titled "The rule of 'Repay earlier at a discount' and its role in solving the issue of delaying paying off debts."Seventh topic discusses the Fiqhi solutions offered by scholars of Fiqh to solve the problem of delays.The paper concludes by mentioning the most important results and recommendations which we have gathered through our research.
