Abstract: The addition of plant fibers in composites can optimize the properties of many materials. Thus, the objective was to prepare and characterize cellulose pulp from bamboo. For this, two different methods of delignification bamboo were used, followed by bleaching. Method I: the bamboo was washed with 5% NaOH solution for 2 hours, at room temperature and protected. In II, the bamboo was washed with 2% NaOH for 4h at 80ºC and prepared. Afterwards, the pulp was bleached with H2O2 at 24% (v / v) and NaOH at 4% (m / m), in the proportion of 1g / 20mL, for 2h at 50ºC and rest. Subsequently, as they were subjected to analysis: cellulose content; FTIR spectroscopy; XRD and thermogravimetric. The remaining content of lignin and hemicellulose in method I, was 11% and 17%, respectively and 6% and 12% (II). The bleaching of (I) increased the cellulose content (88%) and the crystallinity (79%). The average loss of mass was 80%, at an average peak of 356°C.
