Systematic Review of Preservation TMS that includes Continuation, Maintenance, Relapse-prevention, and Rescue TMS

Abstract: symptom treatment was measured by pairwise correlations of the stimulation related change in severity of each cluster.A cross-lagged analysis determined whether the correlations resulted directly from the stimulation or were a byproduct of TMS' anti-depressive effect leading to a reduction in anxiety. Results:The correlation r-values for H1 and F8 are 0.44 (p<0.00003) and 0.36 (p<0.0007)respectively.While the higher value for H1 over F8 is not significant (p ¼ 0.28), only H1 is significant compared to its sham group (p¼0.03).In addition, the cross lagged analysis revealed that for F8, the reduction in anxiety follows a decrease in depression. Conclusions:While both coils lead to a reduction of depression and anxiety, the correlation between symptoms for the F8 results not from simultaneous treatment of anxiety with depression but rather from a lagged reduction of anxiety that follows a decrease in depression. The correlation for the H1 meanwhile can be interpreted as resulting from simultaneous treatment of both as hypothesized.
