Year: 2021
Type: editorial
Abstract: Heart transplantation for failing Fontan circulation in adult patients is increasingly being used in the growing population of adult congenital heart disease survivors.1,2 Patients with Fontan circulation develop a multitude of consequences that ultimately lead to need for heart transplantation, including ventricular dysfunction, atrioventricular valve regurgitation, Fontan circuit failure, lymphatic failure, and extracardiac organ failure, all of which may have differing inherent risks for post-transplant outcomes.
