Abstract: The account of Longfellow's journey to Italy begins on page 229, outlining his travels from Genoa, Pisa, Lucca, and Florence into Rome. The following two chapters are devoted to Rome and the nearby village of L'Ariccia. Finally, short descriptions are made of Bologna, Ferrara, and Padua, followed by a more thorough depiction of Venice.
