Abstract: Oriented attachment offers new possibilities to precisely build up complex structures. In this\nthesis oriented attachment of PbTe and PbS is investigated on an ethylene glycol\ntoluene/hexane interface. While drying a quantum dot solution on a layer of ethylene glycol,\nthe quantum dots attach in three distinct superstructures. Linear attachment is observed for\nboth materials in which the quantum dots attach head to head. Also totally square structures\nare formed for PbS and a more parallelogram shape for PbTe are observed. For PbTe also\npatches of siliceen lattices are fabricated. Models were made, to explain how these different\nstructures create
