Gastropericardial fistula-induced pericarditis: an unusual consequence of GERD.

Abstract: Introduction
Laparoscopic antireflux surgery has gained in popularity since the 1990s. Many studies have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of this minimally invasive procedure. However, long-term complications and failure rates have been reported to range from 4.5% to 12.5%.[1,2] Postoperatively, gastropericardial fistula due to slipped wrap, or recurrent paraesophageal or hiatal hernia, has been reported.[3–7] We report a case of gastropericardial fistula presenting as an acute pericarditis, a late and rare complication of a laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication.
