Abstract: In postnatal retina, neuronal apoptosis promotes a spectrum of microglial transcriptional states with varied dependence on CSF1R; TAM receptor Mer and complement receptor 3 mediate phagocytosis of dying neurons while altered CSF1R dependence requires Axl.
