Abstract: In the years that preceded the congress, the 1967 World Exhibition took place in Montreal, and it became an occasion for the French president, Charles de Gaulle, to visit Quebec. He took advantage of the opportunity to express support for that movement. The Canadian tradition in psychology started in the final decades of the nineteenth century, with the creation of a laboratory at the University of Toronto by J. M. Baldwin, after his return from his stay with Wundt in Leipzig in 1889. Canadian psychology has maintained a close and continuous interaction with the US scientific lines and schools, mainly through its English-speaking areas and groups, but it has also kept alive, mainly through its francophone lines of research, an information flow with European developments, and this sector has proved to be very active in supporting the International Association of Applied Psychology activities in the world.
