Proteome- and Transcriptome-Driven Reconstruction of the Human Myocyte Metabolic Network and Its Use for Identification of Markers for Diabetes

Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: (Cell Reports 11, 921–933; Published May 12, 2015) Within the subject characteristic data that we received and reported in the originally published version of Table 1, the ages were unfortunately slightly wrong (a deviance of 1, 3, 3, 6, 1, and 1 year, respectively). This was due to missing information about the sampling dates at the time of writing the paper. We have now received this information and have therefore updated Table 1 with the correct values. The ages did not influence our analysis or results in any way. The corrected table is shown below, and the article has been corrected online as well. The authors regret this error.Table 1Characteristics of the Six SubjectsFemale 1Female 2Female 3Male 1Male 2Male 3Age (years)494863555050Body mass index (kg/m2)23.024.024.823.723.924.4Plasma glucose (mmol/l)4.95.05.55.66.44.9Plasma insulin (pmol/l)251736262420HOMA-IR0.470.38aThe minimum allowed input (20 pmol/l) for plasma insulin was used for HOMA-IR calculation.0.690.50.480.38Plasma total cholesterol (mmol/l)5.06.25.44.35.06.8Plasma HDL cholesterol (mmol/l)2.03.01.71.01.32.0Plasma LDL cholesterol (mmol/l)2.73.03.12.73.24.2Plasma triglyceride (mmol/l)1.160.720.971.201.381.40Sequencing depth (M pair-end reads)48.084.962.645.868.949.5Phenotypic characteristics, selected plasma levels, and sequencing depth for the six samples.a The minimum allowed input (20 pmol/l) for plasma insulin was used for HOMA-IR calculation. Proteome- and Transcriptome-Driven Reconstruction of the Human Myocyte Metabolic Network and Its Use for Identification of Markers for DiabetesVäremo et al.Cell ReportsApril 30, 2015In BriefType 2 diabetes is associated with an altered metabolism in skeletal myocytes. To elucidate these metabolic changes at a systems level, Väremo et al. reconstructed the myocyte metabolic network and integrated it with transcription data from six different studies, identifying a consistent metabolic signature of diabetic muscle.
