Writing space

Type: article
Abstract: Summary Writing Space explores the way in which language structures space with the help of lexical, syntactical, and semantic devices. Based upon an analysis of Susan's writing lesson given to Friday in J.M. Coetzee's Foe, a spatial reading of narrative is demonstrated. This includes a brief discussion on literacy as a prerequisite for writing, the site of the activity, and the theoretical framework within which spatialisation as a critical tool for literary analysis is not only consonant with post‐structuralist thought but also a foremost means of ordering the world.
