8‐Substituted, syn ‐Configured Adenosine Derivatives as Potential Inhibitors of the Enzyme IspE from the Non‐Mevalonate Pathway of Isoprenoid Biosynthesis

Abstract: The following additions should be made to the original article.1 Addendum to ref. [31]: Even 8-fluorinated adenosines prefer in solution completely the syn conformation; see: A. K. Ghosh, P. Lagisetty, B. Zajc, J. Org. Chem. 2007, 72, 8222–8226. For the solvent dependence of the intramolecular O(5′)–H···N(3) hydrogen bond in 2-deoxyadenosines, see: M. K. Lakshman, R. E. Lehr, Nucleosides Nucleotides 1992, 11, 1039–1046. Addendum to ref. [52]: Fairlamb and coworkers published the X-ray structure of three 8-arylated 2′-deoxyadenosines and of an 8-phenylated adenosine; see: T. E. Storr, C. G. Baumann, R. J. Thatcher, S. De Ornellas, A. C. Whitwood, I. J. S. Fairlamb, J. Org. Chem. 2009, 74, 5810–5821. These structures are not deposited with the CSD. They all adopt a syn conformation, mostly with a gg orientation of the hydroxymethyl group and an intramolecular O(5′)–H···N(3) hydrogen bond, but also with gt or tg orientations and an intermolecular hydrogen bond. Addendum to Acknowledgments: We thank Prof. M. K. Lakshman, The City College of New York, for advising us of the above references. The Authors
