Abstract: Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a known regulator of pulmonary immunity, and administration of a recombinant fragment of the protein (rfhSP-D) attenuates allergic airway inflammation in experimental murine models. Qassim et al (Am J Respir Crit Care Med 2017;196:1526-34; doi: https://doi.org/10.1164/rccm.201701-0225OC) examined the effect of rfhSP-D on grass pollen allergen–induced basophil and adaptive immune cell responses using primary blood cells and sera obtained from human subjects with known grass pollen allergy.
