Abstract: On the occasion of its 100th year of the founding of the institution called the Board of Trustees for Children in the city of Bahia Blanca, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from the Universidad Nacional del Sur was conducted an investigation to characterize a century of institutional practices on the protection of children in the city. In this route were identified various institutional models that are succeeding and even lived in the area of the institution. This presentation shows the results achieved in that speech that combined historical research with an ethnographic documentary regarding the practices that shape the field of children at risk. The results provide diagnostic elements on the construction of the concept of childhood, family and state in an area that is emblematic for the identity and bahiense with strong positivist, legal paradigm itself irregular.
