Abstract: While humanity has not been able to end the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, newly reported cases of monkeypox have caused unease. The current review sheds light on the transmission routes, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, treatment, and prevention of the disease in this early stage of the ongoing monkeypox epidemic.
