Abstract: As mobilized groups that share strong identity, diasporas can have significant role not only in the domestic politics of host states and homeland, but also in inter-national politics, influencing both national foreign policy as well as decisions of international organi-zations. Hence, in international relations, the diaspora acts as independent political subject within the framework of the triangular model - "diaspora-host country-homeland" relations - which are conditioned by the peculiarities of homeland and host country, as well as by the circumstances in which the diaspora has been formed. The article mentions the theoretical approaches to the diasporas' political role in modern international relations. It discusses the levels and possible actions among homeland-diaspora, diaspora-host country, transnational relations. Emphasizing the role of diasporas' not only as transcommunal network but also international relations, we underline the importance of diasporas in international politics. The article is a theoretical essay accompanied with according examples.
