Abstract: Drawing on an analysis of recent global flows of South Korean pop music (K-pop), this chapter examines how global cultural flows engage with transnational and national forces. The global K-pop phenomenon effectively shows cultural dimensions of transnationalism, in which transnational and national forces constantly interweave in digital media–driven popular cultural practices. The global emergence and circulation of K-pop question the Western-centric framework of cultural globalization.
