Abstract: The knowledge economy has brought about major economic transformations in economic activities and in the balance of global economic forces.Knowledge has dominated the features of the global economy, and economic progress and economic development are linked to the ability to produce and use knowledge.That is why countries have sought to move towards the knowledge economy through the economic plans and strategies that they adopt.The study aimed to identify the reality of the knowledge economy and its indicators in Jordan.It dealt with the definition of the knowledge economy, its characteristics, tools, and indicators.It distinguished between the indicators for evaluating the knowledge economy (evaluation criteria) and the indicators for measuring the knowledge economy (measurement methods).The study dealt with the indicators of the knowledge economy in Jordan, by reviewing and analyzing data related to the Jordanian economy according to the most prominent measurement methods and evaluation criteria.The study found that Jordan's rating declined on the indicators for measuring the knowledge economy, in addition to that it achieved results below the level required to move towards the knowledge economy according to many indicators of the knowledge economy assessment.The study recommended the need to reconsider all government plans in Jordan, and the need to adopt policies and plans aimed at Jordan's transformation into a knowledge economy as a priority to achieve progress and economic development.
