Abstract: Being at the intersection of many disciplines and areas of research, postcolonial theories offer a broad view not only of the cultural heritage of colonialism and imperialism as such, but also of the more complex and multifaceted problems of modernity (“coloniality of power”, “geopolitics of knowledge”), as well as the conditions for their occurrence. Postcolonial theories contribute to a critical rethinking of Eurocentric narratives, counteracting teleological and linear notions of modernity. Despite their popularity, post-colonial research approaches penetrated the theory of international relations rather late. Both areas of intellectual search have developed both separately and in opposition to each other in their very epistemological essence. Based on a review of an extensive literature, the author explores the links between the production of postcolonial knowledge and the theory of international relations, thereby highlighting the problems of modern political science and international studies. The formation of integrative approaches to the study of world politics will ensure the consolidation of both political science and international studies and the successful interaction of these areas of knowledge
