Abstract: The Nobel committee announced on October 4th that Alain Aspect, John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger were awarded the Nobel prize “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science” [1]. In this article, we want to put the Nobel Prize in perspective, and replace the three laureates’ contribution in their historical context.
