Abstract: The principle of expanding, enriching, and updating approaches to the implementation of educational programmes in higher educational institutions, related, in particular, to the musical art, is an urgent problem, both in geographical and epochal aspects. This phenomenon caused the authors of the study to address this topic. Its disclosure, characterisation of the most important elements (categories) that make up its content is the main purpose of this study. The coverage of such a phenomenon as the modernisation of music education in institutions of higher education, the definition of the components that are its basis and formalise this process into an integral system are the results of this study.
